Why We Built InterviewMochi the Way We Did

Every product is shaped by what the people behind it believe. We don't have a values page on our website — we'd rather the product speak for itself. But since you're here, this is what drives the decisions we make.

Our mission

Help people communicate with confidence when it matters most.

That's it. Not “revolutionize” anything. Not “disrupt” an industry. Just help people sound like the best version of themselves when the stakes are high — whether that's a job interview, a salary conversation, or a room full of people waiting for you to speak. We've been in those moments. That's why we build the way we do.

Where we're headed

We started with interview prep because that's where the need is sharpest. You have an interview on Thursday. You need to get better by Thursday. That urgency is real and we can help with it.

But the bigger thing we're building toward is how professionals develop and share their voice. Not their resume. Not their LinkedIn headline. Their actual voice — how they explain things, how they handle pressure, how they come across when it counts.

Interview prep is the starting point. It's not the whole picture.

What we believe

Meet people where they are.

Some people need to prep for one interview. Some are applying to 50 roles. Some want to get better at communicating in general. We don't think one plan or one path works for everyone, so we built options — credits for the sprint, a subscription for the long game, and a free tier so you can figure out which one fits before spending anything.

Honesty over comfort.

Our AI doesn't tell you “great answer” when your answer wasn't great. It tells you that you rambled for 90 seconds before getting to the point, that you used “um” twelve times, that your closing was weak. That's not fun to hear. But it's more useful than a pat on the back, and it's what actually helps you improve before the real thing.

Respect the wallet.

We start free. Credits never expire. We don't ask for a credit card upfront. We recommend the cheaper option on our own pricing page when it's the better fit. We do this because we remember what it's like to stress about money while also stressing about interviews. Cost shouldn't be the thing that stops someone from being prepared.

Build to let go.

We designed the product so that you succeed and move on — clean, simple, nothing in your way. No clutter, no feature overload, no screens that make you think. You record, you get feedback, you improve. When you get the job, close the tab and go celebrate. If we did our job right, you'll mention us to a friend when they need it. That's how we grow.

Voice matters.

How you say something is as important as what you say. Most people never practice this. They prep their answers in their head or on paper, but they never hear themselves say it out loud. That gap between what you think you sound like and what you actually sound like — that's where we live. That's what we help you close.

That's it

Five things we believe. They shape every feature we build, every pricing decision we make, and every pixel on the screen.

We'd rather you judge us by the product than by a manifesto. But if you wanted to know what's behind it — now you do.
